Wake-on-LAN (WOL) is a feature that starts up a remote computer. Wake-on-LAN allows a computer to “listen” to a “magic packet” containing the MAC address to wake up the computer over LAN or the Internet. This article will guide you to turn on Wake-on-LAN (WOL) in Windows 10 to start your computer remotely.
Enable Wake-on-LAN in motherboard BIOS or UEFI
The specific instructions and settings in this option will vary depending on the motherboard brand and the model number. Please read PC or motherboard manual for more specific details on this.
1. Boot into BIOS or UEFI. Reference: Instructions to enter the BIOS on different computer models for details.
During boot, an on-screen prompt will usually tell you which particular key to press (e.g. Esc, Delete, or F1) when booting to enter BIOS or Setup.
2. Enable or disable the Power On By PCI-E or WOL (Wake-on-LAN) power management setting.
Power On By PCI-E settings are located in the Advanced> Advanced APM Configuration tab for the ASUS ROG Z390 motherboard.
